My son Sangeeth Balakrishnan, pursuing PhD (with Scholarship), in Mechanical Engineering and specialising in the area of Machine learning at University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, USA. He has completed BTech from TKM College of Engineering,Kerala , MTech from IIT Madras and MS from Iowa state university,USA. Worked in Caterpillar Research and Development, India, an MNC, for a period of three years as a Design Engineer. He completed his Ph.D. In Mechanical Engineering from Pusan National University in August 2021. Before moving to South Korea, he completed his Master of Science degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. We come from an upper-middle-class, nuclear family background with moderate values.

I am currently searching for post-doctoral positions after completing a PhD in mathematics from IIT Madras. I also have an Integrated Master's degree from IISER Thiruvananthapuram. Since I enjoy scientific research and mentoring, I intend to pursue an academic career, and it will take a few more years until I am well-established as a researcher.
Personality-wise, I am somewhat reserved in public and cheerful around people I like. When it comes to talking, I tend to be direct and honest, as I prefer not to spend much of my energy on unnecessary complications. Compared to people from my age group, I think I am relatively immature and socially awkward. I try to find joy in simple things such as watching the rain, sipping a cup of tea, listening to music, figuring out things, repairing things, debating about things, talking to friends, learning new skills, reading interesting articles/mythologies/stories/comics, tiring myself out by engaging in mentally/physically exhausting activities, sleeping, and going for long walks. I value my independence and peace of mind, so I tend to avoid the company of imposing individuals who go emotionally overboard and can't be reasoned with.
On the other hand, I do love spending time with calm, cheerful, and honest people. Open-mindedness and patience are the two main qualities I seek in my life partner. The idea is to end up with a supportive companion who understands that a good life, in the long run, boils down to enjoying each other's company and finding happiness in the little things. At my core, I am probably an existential nihilist trying to live out life as best as I can. Therefore, I feel that an ideal partner will be someone who doesn't hesitate to speak her mind, is open to healthy discussions, and, to some level, attempts to see life with a broader perspective.
